Felsengarten is the place where I want to share my experience gardening in Southern Finland despite all the constraints that country and climate provide.
Felsengarten is what first came to my mind in my native tongue when we bought the house and I envisioned creating a garden (there was only lawn and native nordic forest to start with).
Our garden is situated at and on a part of a massive granite rock. “Fels” is the German term for a large rock, hence Felsengarten.

  1. Hi! I came across your website while searching for tips about growing in Finland. I am in Vantaa and have been gardening with mixed success over the last three years. It has been hard to find any advice in English and Google translate will only do so much, so I am very happy to see what you have been doing. In particular, have you had any success in growing vegetables and herbs? And do you know of any gardening calendar available that would be suitable for growing at such northerly latitudes? (I have been researching Shetland gardening but there is not much about there either!) Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing how you get on this year 😀
